Brick Wall Project History:

In November 2013 MENA applied for two vitality grants for the Garland Ave and Belt Line screening walls. In March 2014, the grants were approved by the City.

At the beginning, many variables were unknown:  the number of participants, the amount of residents' donations, and construction costs. We asked each homeowner participating in the grant to pay $1,000. However, sales taxes and the increased costs for materials (brick, mortar & steel), made it necessary for us to raise additional funds and we requested an additional $450 from each of the homeowners getting a new wall.

July 1, 2014:
After numerous conversations and emails, our brick has finally been ordered. The brick has to
be manufactured and will take 5 weeks before it
is delivered, so we are looking at an August start date. Our intention was to start in mid-May but we encountered forces outside our control that impeded our progress.

September 28, 2014:
Construction of the screening wall on North Garland Ave has been completed and the Belt Line side has begun. We appreciate your
patience during construction.

March 2015:
Work on the screen walls has been completed and the contractor has been paid.
